On an old 350Mhz AMD System 7 board.  Purchased USB board seperately.
The board was manufactured in 1998 by ADS Technologies.  Model
Number USBX-500.  USB version 1.0. FreeBSD version 7.1, GENERIC kernal.

Step 1
Plugged in board.  Hey!  Don't laugh.  When I pulled the old
machine out of the closet, and blew off the dust, the USB board wasn't
seated.  This took the better part of a morning to figure out.  usbdevs -v
showed usb hub enabled, but got 'Block device requred' error.

Step 2.
In bios set IRQ/PNP to auto detect.  Also this bios had a setting
for onboard USB that was set to disabled.  USB was not detected until I
set it to enabled.

Step 3
USB recognized on boot.  Used usbdevs -v command to verify.

Step 4
plugged in 1.0 GB USB stick, msdos, used regularly on an XP system. Only
had two text files on it.  Checked var/log/messages to verify and find
device (da0s1).

Step 5
Mounted USB with mount -t msdosfs /dev/da0s1 /mnt/usb.   Wala!  It worked.
