RSS Productivity

RSS is the next step in making us more productive and
move faster. It's an ideal tool for keeping people
informed. No longer do we have to go out and get
information, information comes to us. However, there's no
such thing as a 'free lunch'. We loose a little control
with this increased speed of information gathering.

Employers are going to love this. A new requirement for
employees that will make them more efficient. When you
get up in the morning, and on your way to work, you can
listen to a live RSS feed of updated information.

Is there an advantage to information finding you. In a
busy news room, yes, maybe. My motivation, however, comes
from trying to find the information. Is rss taking the
'wind out of our sails.' I want to be the conqueror. I
want to be the inventor. RSS takes a little of that away.
It takes enthusiasm and tenacity to be competitive in the
technological age. Inventing, finding and creating on our
own is an electric charge to motivation and productivity.
Employers who foster this environment, I think, achieve
greater productivity than feeding the precepts to their
employees. We can do both, but I believe we'll have to
reinforce the value of employees if we want to slice
another piece out of their day with mandatory rss
monitoring.
