The Inefficiency of Security

The end result of the cyber warfare scare and computer
security seems to be inefficiency.  It just took me an
hour to send an important email.
Does anyone have any examples of how their computer
was cracked or of a cyber attack?  I hear all these
presuppositions, but there never seems to be evidence,
and I've looked.  Forums don't discuss the how because
system administors don't want to expose the security
measures they take.
Computers were never designed to sort through the
infinite combination's of software and encryption that we
could encounter.  Instead people reformatted the hard
drive and reinstalled the operating system.  It was that
simple, and still could be if a little thought was put
behind the cyber warfare hysteria.  Instead what we have
is people expounding possibilities with chest pounding
because they can imagine the worst.  Now it seems if
anybody misses a keystroke it's blamed on a virus or
malicious software.
You know if you click the file drop down menu on most
Window apps there an option to 'save' a file.  If you
save something it's your responsibility and if you're
running a power grid, or something, and you don't know
what files are going to be affected by what you save,
then you better redesign the system and not blame it on
cyber warfare if it crashes.  Today they call it cyber
warefare.  Tomorrow it may be called malicious break
dancing for all we know.  We have to take responsibility
for our own actions and our our systems.
