Is it just me or are most charts nonsense?  I rarely walk away with more
information on the topic than I came in with when I read a chart.  It's
just colors and patterns that have no relative value.
When I create a chart or a graph I gain a thorough understanding of the
topic and my own chart makes perfect sense to me.  When I read someone
else's chart most appear to be incomplete.  Units are ignored.  Key's are
seldom present.  If there's documentation with it, references seem vague.
Mine probably appear similar to others.  I find it takes a great deal of
thought and organization to overcome some of these particulars and I'm
never sure if I've communicated effectively with a chart.
A text description is often faster for me to comprehend especially when
the word smithing describes the subject matter concisely.  Text
descriptions can, however, be just as discombobulating as a chart if the
description and terminology is vague.
