today felt long and luxurious, even though i
did a lot of work here at home. if i didn't have
to trade time and effort and concentration for money,
(mental bandwidth--and, still, physical energy, even
now that i work in an office instead of a restaurant).
i could accomplish so much.
he finished making the two new garden beds out of
cinder blocks. he did all the digging, and stump-hacking.
i lugged the blocks up to him. i did more cleaning up in
the yard, and
when we checked on our seedlings, it looks like nettles
and ashwagandah are sprouting, as well as another plant
whose sharpie-on-popsicle-stick label has become
illegible. a nice surprise, as we thought everyone who
was going to show had shown. earlier arrivals included
one roma tomato, a zucchini, a cantaloupe, and lots of
'grandma hadley' lettuce. also many sunflowers and
morning glories.
i figured out more modular patches, made some new
recordings, and also worked in the DAW. for dinner i
made us shrimp angel hair pasta with fire roasted
tomatoes, garlic, mushroom, onion in the pressure cooker.
there are several audio and video modules waiting to be
soldered, and i need to unpack my video gear from our trip
to denver. our gas got turned off, (i didn't know till too
late how behind we were), so we can't use the dryer right
now. thankfully our hot water is electric, and i had an
induction burner and a regular single electric burner in
a bin of camping supplies, so we can still cook (and
there's the pressure cooker and slow cooker too).
i have digital art i want to finish, and video i want
to edit. i want to spend time on learning code, (i
started with html and css, and want to finish the curriculum
branches on those before starting on javascript. i also
took a detour diving into SDF and learning the little bits
of UNIX i've been picking up, in order to explore the
freeshell. and then of course working out how to set up
this log on gopher and gemini).
i want to go through my photographs and write zines and
do screenprinting. i want to make more of the embroidered
patch designs i've made, on his embroidery machine. i
haven't baked bread in too long (since i quit the cushy
short-term job that paid too litte and had too few hours,
income-wise, and started working another intense and
draining job. (it does feel meaningful, though.)
i need to return to meditation and asana practices.
i'm grateful for so much. i'm tired, and sad that i
didn't start working on music much younger. i'm excited
at what i'm finding and building, now.
i hope you're well. i hope you have good things
that you dream about.
