Gopher and social networks
==========================

As many people noticed there has  been influx of Mastodon users because
they have  been leaving some other  so called social network.  This has
several  consequences. Some  of  them  are positive  and  some of  them
negative.

I  have been  feeling a  bit uncomfortable  on the  Mastodon. My  usual
filters  (which  I  use to  select  the  stuff  I  am interested  in  -
#retrocomputing,  #cycling and  so on)  don't  work well  and many  new
people puts irrelevant stuff everywhere.

There are a few possible solution. I will see.

But it seems that  I am not the only one which  has such feeling. There
is noticeable revival in gopher activity ([1], [2], for example ).

I  should  be   more  active  here,  too.  I  think   I  put  too  much
cycling-related stuff here  but it is an unfortunate  effect of current
times. I am  spending too much time  in front of computer at  work so I
often have  no motivation  to look  to the computer  screen in  my free
time.

At least I revived the basic set  of my Palm Pilots (the TRGpro and the
IIIx)  and I  am infrequently  using the  PalmPix camera  to take  some
low-quality  pictures. I  still use  my PSION  Organiser as  my bedside
computer. But  it mostly means that  is serves just as  the alarm clock
:-( And sometimes  - for example just  now - I use  my SGI workstation.
Yhis is  actually quite terrmible  story as most of  my SGI are  out of
service (mostly for  read internal batteries; however,  the Indigo2 has
anonther - not yet identified - problem).  SO at the moment I only have
the Indigo  R4000 and the  O2 in working  condition. Both of  them have
been  upgraded  and  now  they  have  sockets  for  commonly  available
batteries instead of these hard to  find Dallas/Tadiran ones. I ahve to
modify the Indigo R3000, too.
