I have been using my SGI machines so infrequently so every time I boot
one I also wrote a phlog post...
Actually, I have booted my O2 to transfer some phlog posts from my
PSION MC600 to the SDF server. For some reason I think that using the
SGI machine (with actual serial ports) is easier and faster than using
anything else.
Maybe, there is also an effect of the SGI's excellent terminal fonts -
their terminal are easier to use (for me) than any other one - no
matter if it's any sort of Linux terminal or the iTerm or anything
else...
I also prefer to read gopher in the Lynx on that terminal.
Also, I prefer to write phlogs on the MC600 laptop. It has big,
comfortable keyboard with full-size keys, huge LCD screen and in can be
used anywhere without battery anxiety (actually, I don't know how long
it can work on its 8xAA battery pack - it measures in tens of hours).
And I can use the MC600 in my bed - the SGI O2 does not fit here :-(
The only limitation is that I cannot easily run spell checker here
(it's the 80186 box with the DOS 3.3). The DOS Ispell port messes up my
screen and I have hot find any other option. The Z88 is better in this
point but it loses in the LCD readability and keyboard usability.
