I have the PSION Organiser II (actually, more than one as the reader
might know). I also have the PSION MC600. The MC600 is a nice
old-school laptop which runs MS-DOS 3.3. Thus it can be used - among
others - for development of OPL codes to Organisers II. This is
actually one of main reasons why I keep this machine ready with charged
batteries.
Of course if might be nice if I will be able to send the OPL programs
directly to the Organiser. Technically if should be possible as both
machines have serial. Unfortunately, both use special connectors and
cables and they were not compatible without special adapter. This
special adapter is not special at all. It shoudl be just a normal
gender changer for serial cables combined with the 25-to-9 pin adapter.
The only problem wast that it was not available. I have had the gender
changer thing somewhere but not the compatible 9-to-25 one.
Recently I have got an Organiser II cable (yes, that CommsLink thing)
with 9pin connector. Then I have realised that the gender changer is
used to connect my SGI to the MC600.
So I only needed to connect all these things (a MC600's serial cable, a
gender changer and the new CommsLink cable), power on the devices
and...
But I forgot to replace batteries in my MC! So I have lost everything
on the C: drive, including all Organiser-related software!
Today I have transferred all necessary stuff from the O2 to the MC600,
have connected the cables and devices, then have started the CL.EXE on
the MC side and opened Comms menu on the Organiser II and ...
.. it have started to work!.
So IT IS POSSIBLE to connect the PSION Organsir II to the PSION MC600
to transfer files. Great.
