As you may know I like to use old Psion Organiser 2 handhelds. They
are simple and durable. Simplicity is (sometimes) the ultimate
sophistication, you know. For example: to add a new item to the main
menu (a link to a custom OPL program or to a notes file) it is enough
to press a <Mode> key a enter tits name (and then to press the
<Enter>, of course).
To use (install) new software it is usually enough to insert a data
pack into one of slots and press the <ON> several times. I appears in
the main menu and it is ready to use.
The software is often so big so it is practical to store it on
datapacks. But where to store these packs? They are a bit bigger than
a semi-modern USB stick. It may make sense to carry a selection of
them. For example one might to carry these packs:
- an AutoScribe word processor
- a Psion spreadsheet
- a Travel Pack (common phrases, costs records, and more)
- spelling checker or dictionary
- games
- flash pack for permanent data storage
If I am not mistaken it is 6 packs (one of them can be already in use
but others must be stored elsewhere).
Recently I have found a dedicated case for 6 packs at the eBay. It
seems to be an genuine one which was designed for these datapacks. So
I have got it and now I am adding my datapacks...
