Today I wanted to re-charge my Palm Tungsten W. So I connected it to
the wall charger (and original Palm one, of course). It didn't respond
at all. So I had to reset it. To my surprise it did a full reset.
On the old Palm devices the full reset erases all data and
programs because they are stored in the RAM. It was the case here,
unfortunately.
So I need to install all programs and data once more. Well, it's also
an opportunity to try the Palm Desktop for Mac functionality. Maybe it
will be able to restore stuff from backup. I will see.
Such situation cannot occur on (most of) ARM-based Palm devices as they
use non-volatile memory for storage. This is also the reason why I use
the Palm Centro as my (second) phone instead of the Tungsten W. I like
the old good T|W much more but the Centro is much better in situations
like this one...
