My workstation-style PSION desktop is almost complete. I have connected
the PS/2 keyboard to it. I do have a necessary interface (ist is a
rather big black box which can run on 9V battery; it is labelled "KRB
DESIGNS PSION INTERFACE MODULE"). I also have a relatively tiny and
low-power PS/2 keyboard (I might try the IBM type M, too but it will
reportedly require external power source for the interface).
Aside of it I can also connect the floppy drive. It uses the same
connector so it is probably not possible to use both device in the same
time (I'm not sure as the keyboard interface had a second serial port
which may be used to connect the floppy - of course the keyboard must
be turned off when another device is connected). It is also necessary
to stop the keyboard driver program before the floppy is connected.
Otherwise the floppy drive will not work and the OS will produce
strange warnings ("drive is write protected", "device is unformatted").
The F1 key returns to main screen and the F10 opens the Menu. The F4 is
Time application and the F7 opens the calculator. I am curious if any
of these keys represents also the PSION button.
I am writing this text on the PSION with and external PS/2 keyboard.
It's much easier than use of the build-in keyboard (which is very good
for a portable device)
It works rather well. My main problem is that I don't remember how to
connect the external charger (there are 2 holes labelled 'Power').
Oh, I have got an old 9V battery and it is empty now... :-(
It's funny stuff anyway.
