During 2018 and 2019 I used the PSION Organiser IILZ as my alarm clock.
It was very good for that: it is possible to define eight or so
different alarms which can be repeated daily, on workdays, on weekends
or just in selected day of week. It fitted my needs very well. And she
sound was loud enough (unlike the alarm on m68k Palms which is useless
because it is quiet and very short). It has been also practical to have
a simple note taking device near my bed - to record some evening ideas
and so.
We (me and my wife) normally need at least three alarms for every
workday: first for my wife to take her pills (it have to be done well
before the breakfast), second for my wife to wake up finally and third
as the last reminder that I have to wake up, too (it is because my wife
needs much more time to travel to her work). On some day I need to wake
up earlier and this time usually does not correlate with these three
alarm times. During weekends tings are easier an we need just two
alarms. The old good PSION was able to easily manage all of these
things.
We were using my wife's Pebble smartwatch as a backup but they are too
noisy to be used in house where are also flats of other people.
But I have realised during December that something is wrong - the PSION
stopped to play any sound. Today I tried to set up the device but it
seems that it is not software problem. The speaker seems to be dead.
This is unfortunate because I don't have another working IILZ and the
older PSION Organise II devices don't have repeating alarms (at least
not so flexible ones). I will research what I am able to do with my
Organiser IIXP anyway.
As a temporary solution I set up my CASIO Cardclock but it can do only
one alarm (most of traditional alarm clocks have the same problem). I
will try to set up my wife's Palm T|X for other alarms but it is not an
ideal solution.
It you ask why I don't use a mobile phone for that - no mobile phone is
allowed in our bedroom.
