Palms, palms, who cares?
========================

I have a big  collection of early Palm devices from  the first Pilot to
the fastest Palm III clones. Some of them I still frequently use.

I have been much less successful with  more modern ones. I have had the
Palm/HP Touchpad  tablet. After the  HP killed the  Palm I have  had to
convert if  to an  Android device  to be able  to use  it. Today  it is
almost useless anyway.

Last year I have got an unused Palm Pixi Plus. A cute tiny phone with a
keyboard and with the Palm's WebOS  system. But it have had damaged SIM
slot so it has  been useless as a phone. And as a  PDA it is much worse
than the  much older Palm OS  devices. Once there was  a emulator which
allowed the  old Palm OS programs  to run on  the Pixi. But it  is long
gone.

Recently I have got  a cheap Pixi from Germany. It  is heavily used but
it seems  to recognize the  SIM correctly. The  only problem is  that I
have to activate the device which is a bit complicated process. We will
see...

Unfortunately for  the Pixi two things  happen: now I have  a perfectly
working Palm  Tungsten W which  also provides some  phone functionality
AND runs old good Palm OS 4. It is  not as small or as cute as the Pixi
but it works well  and it integrates into my workflow  better. I use it
so intensively so I even lost the stylus. I hope I will find it soon...

The second thing is the arrival of the Nokia N900. It provides the same
functionalities as the Pixi but  in much better quality (camera, music,
www, email, and  even gopher - and  it has backlit keyboard  which is a
big plus).  Now I set up  it and equipped it  with a new stylus,  a new
screen protector and with the pouch so it is ready to be used...
