Modern absurdity
================

I was on a trip in mountains  this week. I was there with my colleagues
from  work.  There was  excellent  weather  and  we were  in  beautiful
mountains so we took a lot of pictures.

As I expected I was the  only person who didn't had a touchscreen-based
smartphone. All people used their smartphones to take pictures so I was
also the only one who used a  camera (a very basic Kodak FZ101). And it
see,s  that many  of modern  phones can  take better  pictures than  my
camera.

The  interesting thing  was  to see  how much  people  depend on  their
phones. At one  moment we made several groups. And  one of groups tried
no notice the other one that they are late. By the phone of course. But
there are places where is no wireless coverage. We were in mountains...
It was very surprising and disappointing for them.

Then we stopped in a mountain hotel for refreshments. Here they started
to  trying to  exchange  pictures  which they  took  (with  use of  the
WhatsApp or something  like that). And it was unexpected  for them that
it is  not possible to send/receive  so big files (you  know, full-size
images taken  by at least 10Mpix  cameras)... (All people here  were at
least Ph.D. in engineering, albeit  not in electrical engineering or in
informatics).

When we returned to our hotel then  I downloaded my pictures to the GPD
Pocket, selected a  few nice ones, scaled them  down ("convert -scale")
and sent them  to my colleagues by  e-mail. They the started  to ask me
how I managed to sent the pictures because they were not able to do the
same.  No wonder  they  were  not able  to  do  this because  full-size
pictures were  about 50MB and the  scaled down were just  about 5MB. No
one can send 59MB of images in one e-mail is there is a 10MB limit...

I not sure if it is funny...
