GPD Pocket Battery
==================

A week ago I have got a new internal battery for my GPD Pocket (for the
original  Atom-based one,  not  for the  newer Pocket  2).  As you  may
remember the original battery puffed off and died several months ago.

I did several  attempts to buy a  new one but I was  only successful in
Spain [1]. And the battery arrived today. I read several horror stories
about the battery replacement but it  was actually an easy process. The
battery is glued at the bottom by adhesive tape and it is not soldered.
So with some care it can be replaced rather seamlessly.

So I  replaced the battery  and now the little  GPD works once  more!

Then I updated it  (both OS and data) and started to  use it once more.
In meantime we  have got a GPD  Pocket 2 for my wife.  They are similar
externally (the 2 is wider so it does  not fit in the pouch for the old
one) except  the keyboard was  redesigned and the  IBM-style trackpoint
was  replaced by  a  tiny touchpad  (in  the style  of  the poor  SHARP
NetWalker). There are two things which  I miss in the older device: the
microSD slot and  the newer Core m3  CPU. The better CPU  makes the new
machine not only faster  but also cooler (my old GPD  is thus much more
noisy but it is still acceptable).

Honestly, even for simple note-taking during meetings I rather use this
mini-laptop  than the  PSION-alike Gemini  PDA  ans the  GPD Pocket  is
simply a small computer with the full, unlimited (less or more, as it's
the systemd...) UNIX-like  operating system. So everything  can be done
in the  same way as on  a desktop (data access,  data transfer, windows
operations..). And the  screen is bigger and keys larger  so I can type
and edit much faster than on the Gemini.
