I wished to make an IRIX install on my SGI Indigo 2. I already have a
2GB drive here (the original one was faulty). I got an unused set of
IRIX media for the eBay (I have 6.5.22 from the SGI Supportfolio but I
wanted to start with something better than CD-R media).
So I connected my SGI-branded Toshiba 2x CD-ROM (which is known to be
able to boot IRIX) and ... it immediately died.
The only SGI-compatible CD-ROM is the partially faulty CD in my O2 and
at the moment I do not wish to manipulate with it.
Thus I have to manage another way to install the OS. Probably one of
the remote install procedures. Unfortunately, the easiest way - from a
shared directory on another IRIX system - is not possible as none of my
IRIX systems has enough free space and I have to sort the data on them
first.
