TtH: (La)TeX to HTML
====================

I have been  trying clean my bookmarks. There have  been many surprise.
There have been some interesting links  related top the Agenda VR3. And
when I was browsing these links then I have found an interesting tool -
the TtH [1].

It  is a  standalone program  for conversion  from plain  TeX or  LaTeX
source to  HTML. It may  not look like  something special as  there are
many programs with similar purpose.

But the TtH has some advantages:

1. It  does not  depend on  an (La)TeX installation.  Yes, it  may work
better if it  can call TeX or  LaTeX for some specific  tasks but it
can do most work without them.

2. It translates equations to text, not to images. And it does it well.

3.  It is  highly portable  (it compiles  even on  an ancient  IRIX 5.3
   without problems).

The use is easy:

--------------------
tth -a -e2 file.tex
--------------------

The "-e2" means that all images  should be processed by the Ghostscript
(with use  of an accompanying ps2png  program) and the "-a"  means that
the (la)tex program can be used (if necessary).

It has of course some limitations: the list of known LaTeX environments
is limited. But for normal documents is works perfectly.
