Zaurus and Qtopia Desktop
=========================

When TrollTech worked on bringing of the Qt to handhelds then they also made a
clone of the Palm Desktop software. It was called Qtopia Desktop. I wished to
see one because synchronization of data between (for example) the Sharp Zaurus
and the Linux-based desktop is not simple. Actually, it's one of the main
reasons why none of my Zauri was really used as a PDA and why I still prefer
the old good Palm III for such tasks.

The Qtopia Desktop was always available from the TrollTech FTP site. But when
the company finished it's business and Qt development was transferred to other
company, the site vanished. Many places point to this non-existent site.

Even this great site [1] has a mirror of many Qtopia stuff but except the
Desktop. The only place which I have found is a strange one [2].

Sooo, I have installed the thing to the /opt/qtopiadesktop and set the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, the PATH and further one variable in the way which is
described in the README. It was also necessary to make a symlink to the 32bit
libstdc++.so thing. And now it starts! (and it really looks much like the Palm
Desktop ;-) )

Next step: test it the thing works and if it is syncing something...
