Just a short post today: over 90% of pictures has been taken with
the HP PhotoSmart 735. Yes, it's a 2003 vintage digital camera but
it's still the best that I have (my Sony Alpha thingy IS better but
also much heavier so I use it very unfrequently). Quality of
cameras in mobile phones (iPhone 3G and bq Aquaris E4.5) is below
the Photosmart. So about 9% of pictures has been taken by the
Aquaris and the rest of the shots have been divided between the
camera of the 3G, the PalmPix (attached to one of my Palm III
devices) and the Sony Clie UX50 internal camera.
Actually, I used the iPhone 3G only once for taking serious
pictures. And the pictures of a frozen creek and trees were quite
good but the resolution of pictures was limited. All of my
Palm-based cameras are limited to 640x480 resolution so they can be
used just for fun and not for taking of pictures.
I have found that the combination of the Palm III and the Kodak
PalmPix camera is actually more useful than the Sony PEG-UX50 with
it's internal camera. The Sony can produce much better pictures
(with much better colors and contrast) but it's display is not
readable on the direct sunlight. So I often miss the focused place.
The Kodak's camera produces dim pictures with worse contrast but
the back and white screen of the Palm allows to aim on the
photographed object more precisely.
I also do have a CompactFlash camera for the Sharp Zaurus. It works
and it even has some lens but I never used it for taking of real
pictures (I only did a few testing shots). There is an issue that I
cannot find the camera software for newer Zauri (it works well on
the 240x320 screen of older models but behaves badly on a later
640x480 devices - it's small and rotated for 90 degrees).
