# [2021.01.23] The Whisperer in Darkness

Today I listened to yet another audiobook recorded by the H. P.
Lovecraft Historical Society. In general, it left the same feeling
that people read that kind of literature for pure sensations. It
meant to be read, reread, and imagined vividly to live through the
fear and loathing towards unholy Mi-Gos from Yuggoth. You can't learn
anything fundamental about the mythology of Lovecraft by reading his
books. Scraps of frightening stories, disparate horrifying facts,
unworldly sounding names --- that you will find there, but not any
system of ideas.
