# [2020.07.29] Spotify Came to Russia

Spotify became available in Russia a couple of weeks ago, and I've
already seen some discussion of the pros and contras of using it. As
for me, I'm too old for this. I grew up when music was stored on CDs
or maybe your PC's HDDs if they were large enough. I still have a
collection of albums marked as gold by my inner art critic. And I
store it at my PC, at my phone's memory card, at an external
archiving drive. I don't want it to be in a cloud or any streaming
service. Many soundtracks one can find in MP3 or FLAC over the
internet. And for some of them, I don't even what to pay to anyone.
Should I pay someone to listen to Glen Gould playing Johann Sebastian
Bach if they both are dead? Should I add some extra fee to listen to
a full soundtrack of The Last Door game if I bought the game itself
years ago and still love it? Should I pay to listen to music older
than me which achieved platinum status decades ago and brought piles
of money to the authors even though these guys are still living? I
respect talented people but not their children or producers.
