## 12 Freedom of blogging
This blog is hosted on a small and old server somewhere in the USA. I don't know how the people who run it voted in the last presidential election. I don't care, but with everything I've written here, I'm not sure I'm in line with the Trump administration and the rules of this new kind of dictatorship. It could also be the same problem with the servers of the fediverse located in the USA, full of leftists and enemies of this personified power. As I said before, this blog is very easy to move and locate anywhere in the world because it's a static blog. But that's not the point today.

My question is about freedom of speech and freedom to blog. I didn't think this question would come up so soon in the US, but sometimes I think it could happen in Europe too. Every day there's a new attack on freedom of speech, and the justification is devious, because it's about wokism that would prevent freedoms... it's above all about the inversion of values. It's exactly what we could read about in dystopian novels, but now it's real and it's happening more and more. I really don't know if there will be a reaction to this in the US and, more importantly, if we realise that this is happening more and more in Europe. Censorship is coming back in France now, but we are not banning books in libraries at the moment, just an innocent comic book for schools. It always starts like this, slowly, like a snake that surrounds you before tightening its grip. By the time you realise it, it's too late.
But I'm very lucky, compared to most people in the world. Look at the maps of freedom of speech in the world and you will see the problem. It got worse between 2009 and 2019, and it's getting worse now. We can see that the press is under threat from big companies that are infiltrated by far-right or ultra-liberal ideologies. Yes, they always claim that nobody can tell THEIR truth, but now we hear it everywhere, all the time. In the "post-truth era", the era of literal lies, it's harder to prove that something is the truth than the opposite. That's why I left Twitter, but it's like a cancer now, exacerbated by IA. It's no coincidence that Musk now has his own IA in X and that every big country wants to use its own IA. It's a way to make people think what you want, like search engines still do today. I remember that I did tests on the Koran and Islam and the results that came out were the most controversial, not the most reliable, sometimes manipulated by ISIS who clearly understood how it works.
The problem is both the management of human knowledge and the culture we should have to understand and make good choices. Some say that freedom of speech is not so good, an idea of Western countries, it's a decadent world with wokism, homosexuality, etc... Yes, et cetera is important because if you are against one of these subjects, you can be against the other progressive ideas. That's how it works in this confusionism. We allow all our knowledge to be captured by the tech companies and so manipulated. In France, a media is attacking Wikipedia because they don't want to see some information about it. Another weak signal that freedom and knowledge are under threat. In the 30s, the Nazis burned books and wanted to destroy art that they considered degenerate. That's exactly what's happening now in several countries in the world, starting with ... the USA.
I have some of my data in France, in Switzerland, and most of it is stored three times around me. We think that data is indestructible. That's not true. Everything can disappear, and I see it every day when I'm trying to keep track of information about old video games. Knowledge is precious, and so is freedom. We are now entering dark times and everyone should think about this and not put themselves in danger by giving out too much information everywhere. Welcome to our new dystopia of 2025, and it's no longer fiction.
