Earlier this week I was trying to get a dot matrix printer to scan instead
of print. There's a thing you can replace the ink ribbon with that has an
optical scanner instead of ink. The scanning itself worked, but now we're
waiting for another cable to arrive so that the ancient computer can speak
to the slightly less ancient printer and move its mechancial bits.
