As I don't have internet
I reflect on the principle
of offline and text first

text mode today?
I can do my email in mutt
I can listen to music in mocp
I can write vim
and read too
I now can also experiment
with ORCA
a text/console based sequencer
a programing interface
Could I also create music
in text mode only?
All that can be done offline too
as my email tool works well offline.
Going online I can then
send and receive mail
ssh to sdf
browse and post to gopher
what I've written previously
I even have a tool
to fetch the gopher holes
I read frequently
So I can simply hop online
for a few minutes.
Chat and interact
with the community
Still all in text mode
I can listen to anonradio
while chatting
with the djs on com
I could probably
broadcast my show
in text mode
I'm yet to discover
how to do this
syncthing works in the
background so I can keep
all my files in sync
My local web server
accessible trough ssh
It feels like in a
text and offline paradigm
I waste a lot less time
on my computer.
When a task is done
I move on with my life
I write, I draw, I paint
I play music
I stop expecting my computer
to fulfill all my desires
I stop this endless quest
to be distracted
from my own life
The computer
is simply a tool
the internet
a way to connect
to the outside
Only that, nothing more
There is something
really peaceful
about living
text and offline first
