well, got the jokes out of the way. phew! anyways, on the technology
front i'm working right now upgrading as many of the services i use to
more free, decentralized technologies. here's my current progress:

 1. search

currently using DuckDuckGo[1] as my primary search engine. trying
to replace it with YaCy[2], a p2p distributed search engine.

 2. backup

currently using mega.nz[3] for some things, git for others.
trying to replace mega with tahoe-LAFS[4], using least
    authority[5] as a provider.

 3. phone

currently using a nexus 5 with cyanogenmod[6] on AT&T network.
trying to replace cyanogenmod with ubuntu touch[7]. i'd like to
replace AT&T with a VOIP provider, but i need SMS. might look
into SDF's VOIP service at some point.

there are several other things i'm working on too, but i'm running out
of time for now! i'll post more on this later.
