# Biff and Skippy: San Diego Legends

In the 1980s, local television personality Larry Himmel
hosted a show called San Diego At Large. Himmel was a news
reporter with a talent for comedy. He combined those two
things into one show.

Biff was played by Himmel himself; perpetually wearing dark
shades with zinc oxide clumsily smeared across his nose and
part of his shades. Skippy was played by standup comedian
Rick Rockwell, who would later become (sadly) famous as the
millionaire on "Who Want to Marry a Millionaire?".

I went to Sunset View Elementary School at the time and we
all watched the show. My friend Leo and I were obsessed with
Biff and Skippy. Leo was taller with light brown hair, like
Himmel. I was shorter with dark brown hair like Rockwell. So
one glorious day, we dressed up as the two.

I can't remember if this was Halloween, or some other
dress-up day at school, but I'm pretty sure the year was
1985.
