My name is Devon Koren, and I live in the foothills of Knoxville,
Tennessee, on a premium piece of railside property, with my daughter,
Aisling, my husband, Thomas, our puppy, Pippin, and our cat, Pantoufle.
I'm 33 years old and a reformed Gemini, with an obsession for striped toe
socks and an intense love of Highway 11. I earned my Master's in English,
managed to convince the University to let me teach a couple of sections of
First Year Composition that focused on weblogs, and then abandoned the
profession for the security of administrative work in the corporate
sector. I've managed to make my way into the training department, where I
will hopefully be able to synthesize my teaching, writing, and general
corporate skills in a rewarding career path. This is definitely not what I
dreamed I would be doing with my life ten years ago, but -- there you go.

My daughter is thirteen years old, and has been diagnosed with Autism
Spectrum Disorder. She has an obsession with Deviant Art, Minecraft, video
games, Pokemon, and Monty Python. She's smack dab in the middle of  Middle
School, and while she struggles at times, I am still so very proud of
her hard work and the progress she has made.

My husband is twenty-six years old, and I found him on Twitter. It's the
sort of social-media love story Hollywood would probably have a field day
with. We've been together for four years now, and I can't think of a
better compliment to myself or anyone else I'd rather spent the rest of
this century with. We spend our time together trying to learn to cook,
sipping on drinks, watching various science-fiction television shows, and
loving each other madly.

My cat is seven years old, and enjoys slamming her body against locked
doors in the middle of the night, meowing fiercely at anyone who will
listen. She is slightly psychotic, but also incredibly patient. ... On
second thought, this probably means I should watch my back.

The puppy is the newest addition to our odd little family, and he is only
about two years old. He's a Jack Russell Terrier/Corgi mix that we
rescued from the Grainger County humane society, and it was love at first
sight despite the fact I realized instantly I was allergic to him by the
huge itchy red welts that came up all over my body after I held him the
first time. I've just started taking an awful lot of Claritin.

I want to record our adventures here -- mainly for myself, so I won't
forget them as I age and grow old and senile -- but also for any friends
and family who want to check and see how we're doing and are willing
to go through all the trouble to dig around gopherspace and find out.
Mostly, however, I just enjoy working with the old terminals and dealing
with plain text on the screen. Maybe I'm just gettng old, and I'm doing
that nostalgic thing that old people do.
