Hello, my name is Ryan. I live in Beech Grove, Indiana, and I work as a City Carrier Assistant for the United States Postal Service. What that basically means is I'm a mail carrier without the benefits or respect. See, at USPS, bodies that have been around longer are inherently more important, regardless of anything else. You could be the fastest, most efficient carrier in the whole office, but that doesn't mean shit unless you are old. Older than dirt, which is also how old the vehicles we drive are. All of our mail trucks clock in at well over 150k miles. Keep in mind that these miles have also been driven in the most destructive stop-and-go manner possible. The heat they have is more like an illusion of heat. On a good day, it is able to defrost the windshield. They have no air-conditioning, which means in the summertime, you are driving around in a giant microwave oven.

As a CCA, we are considered Part-Time employees by the Postal Service. In practice, we actually work way more hours than the regular carriers.
