A couple of weeks ago I officially started my job/career as a software
engineer.

Now that I'm finally here (or back?), it's still a bit intimidating,
but much less so than before now that I'm actually knocking out
tickets. I was previously an intern at this company so my onboarding
was more like "Oh you worked here before? Here's some work then".
Way less formalities than when I started as an intern.

Also got put into a different team than the one I was on, which I'm
very glad for. I feel the weight of having to make a good impression
for the sake of a return offer made me an awkward mess during the
internship. But now that I'm full-time, I can actually 'impose myself'
onto the team so to speak.

I had also forgotten how engaging working on software can be, it feels
like the day goes by fast. Especially when I'm in the office, I'm
still living with my parents for a bit. And let me tell you, a one
floor apartment is not particularly conductive to concenctration when
people are being noisy behind you.

Given this, I would go into the office more often but it's like a ~1hr
train ride away. I also won't be moving closer to it any time soon
given property prices there (Chicago's west loop), so I'd probably be
better off just getting used to it.

Side Note: I have no idea what changed in my diet since I started
working, but it feels like I have to wipe wayyy less than I did
when I was on campus. Now it's 2-3 wipes vs 3+ on campus. Maybe the
office catering has a healthy serving of laxatives in it?

Who knows.
