Is it only coincidental that my last tweet was a reply to a "I love blocking
advertisers" tweet from a verified account:
"I love seeing commercial promotional accounts on non-commoditized social
platforms frozen, limited, or suspended. Let us have our quaint convos w/o
product placement, bots, and disinfo minions."
I also had been researching 'nitter' in another tab, and declined to verify
my phone number.
I did wonder why the restriction happened, but I see on the /r/Twitter
subReddit other users are mystified they too are restricted for 'unusual
activity.'
I assumed at first it was due to some improper and inaccurate algorithm for
content. Now I suspect some 'sooper sekrit' complicated algorithm targets
seemingly random accounts, and there is actually no 'unusual activity' to
account for the restriction: no rapid addition of followers, no spate of rapid
tweets, no content algorithm.
My Twitter account is almost 12 years old.
Related: my IP address was blocked by a grocery lists website, and an Amsterdam
server hosting a friend's Calibre library. Nothing I did, so I can blame
either my no-tech-skills-thus-no-hacker son or the internet provider. I used
Tor to get to the Calibre library. I'm thinking the universe is sending me a
message with these sudden unexplained blocks.
