I am reminded today of certain cool and paranoid people whom I miss
reading. They had the good sense and foresight, or maybe low threshold,
to get out of Low Impulse Control Environment. I am back to reading
phlogs.
I am not worried about shadowy lurkers on gopher. I am not notable nor
noticeable enough to follow for corporate and law purposes. My family
would tell you, if they remembered my name. They're on Facebook. I am
not. Talking or emailing one-on-one with me, not for show, not for ads,
does not suit them. On LICE I am an increment. Or is that excrement?
Decrement? Decrepit? Detriment? I am interesting only to people who
like what I like.
I like reading phlog Reading Journal posts. I might create a Reading
Journal -- I do read, but old titles, mostly. I did read a few new
novels and books this year, and still am. My expectations of what a
good book did not diminish or update to 21st-century norms, and that's
my fault. I read to be enlightened, informed, and entertained.
What I'm reading now:
Death at the Sign of the Roook - Kate Atkinson
fiction, mystery, Jackson Brodie #6
I am a Cat - Soseki Natsume
fiction, humour, Japanese, classic
Bridge Bidding Basics in the 21st Century - Audrey Grant
nonfiction, contract bridge, manual
I keep digressing into the specific, but I'm thinking you want the
general, or it's safest to stay in the general.
