201020 - Trying to build a thoughtful internet presence
=======================================================

I'm currently in a knowledge-hungry state, a state where I'm signing up for a bunch of different services, testing them out for a bit and then signing up for another one. In the last month, I've signed up for a VPS at Linode, a web hosting service with shell access[1], an account at SDF (with a gopherhole and space for a small website project), explored possibilities for setting up a gemlog[2], and I've tried to sign up for accounts on two tildeverse servers (with no luck so far). And in addition to all this, I have big plans for a fun platform for my html/internet based stuff.

I like being in this euphoric state, a state which I would liken to that of being at the beginning of a really good creative process - where you see opportunities everywhere and don't want to do anything else than explore them for hours on end. However, I sometimes get the feeling that some of it is a bit too time consuming and I wish I could focus more on the parts that seem to be the most logical to continue with.

I hope I soon get to the organizing state, where I know all the possibilities but can sort through them and temporarily put the less helpful ones to the side in order to build a thoughtful internet presence. I think that being happy with what I have and expand gradually when there’s time and need for it would be the best approach going forward. A sort of digital minimalism.
