SDF just recently released a reddit-style webpage for the community
which I think is pretty nifty.

Reddit is interesting in its own way. I was only a casual user of
Reddit but it's one of those websites that does something that is
really hard to replicate: Be incredibly niche while being incredibly
popular. I think only Wikipedia comes close.

In all the arguments for or against Reddit's new API policy, I
think we have to remember the origin story of reddit. Reddit comes
from a different time in the internet era. It was a time when
start-ups had this idealistic belief that they could create a
website for user generated content and people would just come and
at some point in time in the distant future...they would make
profit. I mean hey, it worked for Craigslist right?

It remains to be seen whether Reddit will weather the API boycott
and succeed like Craigslist or fail and become Digg.
