As an engineer, I care little about fashion and looking
fashionable. Of course like most people I do want to
look presentable but that's not the issue I'm having
with fashion.

The problem I'm having is that all the young kids
these days are super into a fashion style that replicates
the clothes and shoes that I considered normal and
not fashionable in my youth.

My current gripe are shoes. I really don't understand
how regular "tennis shoes" are now so fashionable that
they need to be excessively priced. I'm not talking
about Air Jordans or Yeezies or whatever the hell
kids are buying in their "drops" or whatever.

I'm talking a standard pair of reebok canvas tennis shoes
that I would have paid 30 dollars for in 2002
are now priced at 85 dollars or even 100+ dollars.
It's completely absurd. These shoes are now called
"classic" footwear or some nonsense like that.
Sometimes they are even sold in different stores
as well.

I recently bought the exact same pair of canvas reebok
classic shoes I bought when I was college. In 2002
I paid 18 dollars since they were on sale at my local
sporting goods store. I had to pay 65 dollars
and that was the sale price!

When I was younger I always laughed at the old
boomer meme of yelling "get off my lawn" but the older
I get the more I understand the feelings behind it.
