My family ran into a bit of car trouble recently.
Part and parcel of the joys to owning a car is having
to worry about paying for expensive repairs after
the cars get past a certain age.

This is the unfortunate reality of car ownership
and shouldn't ever be underestimated.

My family has only ever bought japanese cars and so
therefore our maintenance costs have been fairly low
but they are definitely not zero.

We've owned Hondas, Toyotas, and Subarus. It's hard to
make an apple to apple comparisons since the sample
size is so low but our Honda automobiles seemed to
have held up extremely well whereas I would probably
rank Subaru as less reliable than both Toyota and Honda.

I didn't own my Toyota for quite that long but I would
say that it was still more reliable than our Subarus
are proving to be.

I don't live in a state where the Subaru AWD is a
necessary thing (ie snow is not an issue for me).

Based on my small sample size I would say that if you
do not have to drive through snow then I would probably
skip Subaru even though they are pretty cool cars.

Just get the Toyota or Honda.
