2019-01-05 New Year, New Strategies

I'm starting to feel a bit guilty about my WordPress blog
(https://bradfonseca.com) as I haven't posted anything there in a long
time. As far as a theme for the blog, I've kind of settled on a
crappier version of John Scalzi's "Whatever" blog
(https://whatever.scalzi.com/). He writes *whatever* he feels like
writing about so the topics are wide-ranging. The key is that he posts
nearly every day. That is very hard for me. I suppose I could commit
to posting once a week. I have so many other things that I feel are
more important to look after in my life (e.g. my family, my friends,
etc) than what is essentially a vanity project.

My thought was to post snapshots of my thoughts here and put something
more coherent on my blog. I guess that is where my thinking is
still. I could start working on ideas in this phlog and then post the
most fully formed ones on the blog. The other issue is that I prefer
to write on my laptop but that entails setting aside time to actually
sit in front of that keyboard. This affects my output for this phlog
and especially to the blog. I'm actually writing this on my phone in
EverNote (https://evernote.com/) while I'm waiting to head out to my
Saturday gig. I might of hit on something here.

Maybe, I can keep typing away here when I have a free moment (instead
of waiting my time on social media) and add a date-time stamp. Then, I
can gather a group of mini-posts into a phlog post. From the phlog
posts I can hopefully generate more regular content for my blog. I
have the EverNote app installed on all my devices (including my new
Chromebook...maybe I'll do a review of it soon. I like it for what it
is: a more robust version of a tablet with a bigger screen and a
decent keyboard). This might be a better way to do things. If the
obstacle is getting time in front of the laptop then I need to
minimize the need to be in front if the laptop.

I've been at my shift for a couple hours now. It's been steady and
I've been dealing with more issues than usual. I am very thankful for
this side job. It will really help us out with covering expenses and
paying off debt. Also, my spouse received a sizable raise at work so
that will also help. She's now making more than I do at my full-time
job so I've been joking about how I'm going to retire now. :)

It's been absolutely mad here today. The two of us have been running
around looking after customers all day. So much for a slow
Saturday. :( Still, the extra cash is a nice thing.

I think that's all I want to write for now. Happy Weekend!
