2018-11-08 We Got RPGs Tonight!

Work continues to be hectic but I get to GM my Pathfinder campaign
tonight! Also, I have a couple new players joining tonight (my niece
and her friend). It's going to be so much fun introducing them to the
wide world of role-playing games. Of course, I also get to have the
fun (for me) of preparing all the little surprises and twists to the
story. The challenge for me is that I am now running a group of eight player
characters (PCs) for an adventure that's scaled for four (the standard
PC party size assumed in all Paizo adventures). I will do what I
usually do and fudge the encounters. In this case, double the number
of creatures encountered and/or make them more resistant to player attacks
(e.g. more hitpoints, maybe a slightly better AC). The main challenge
for me in "upgrading" the section of the adventure I'm running (the
Rise of the Runelords adventure path [AP]), are the hazards and traps
can't be easily scaled that way. I may have to fudge the dice rolls
and effects to get the desired challenge for the PCs. In addition,
I'll need to double the treasure but set it up with some thought so
that any items might be useful further in the adventure.

This is going to be so much fun!
