Another day another log? I doubt that i'll keep this frequency.
It's not the objetive of this gopherhole either.
So, i'm a "computer technician", the IT guy of a big market here in my city.
Before that i worked with computer repairs for a year, my first job related with IT.
A few months ago this new opportunity came up, close to home, better salary, worse
hours but way better benefits. The way it was announced looked like an entry
sysadmin position, which was exactly what i wanted.
Nope.
I just wait in my office for someone to call with a problem, which is usually
solved in a couple minutes. A lot of calls to "My computer isn't working" where i
just turn on the display, change printer toners or reboot a machine.
If the problem is more complicated, that used to get me excited at the beggining, i can't
solve it. Not because i don't know how or that they won't teach, it's simply not my function.
Even though they asked for some Linux and maintenance experience, we usually have to call
the Central to explain the problem and they solve it. It's ridiculous.
And from time to time i can see some changes in the servers and new scripts (that they
call 'shells') making our job even simpler and easier. In a few months they'll probably
hire new guys with a smaller salary to do the job.
I feel like i'm learning nothing, aggregating nothing in my life in general. Never felt that
in any job i had. It's kind of exhausting, to be honest.
