2/2/22 (but later in the day)
number-folk, rejoice!

Today I had a pretty busy day. I've got 5 sessions wednesdays, which is just less than half of all of my sessions. I'm a tutor for young kids, teaching them how to program in various languages. Scratch for the young ones- python, roblox, and minecraft for the older ones. That being said, I avoid the minecraft students if I can- most kids trying to do the minecraft mods have much less interest in programming, and more interest in running around in the game and fighting mobs. I asked my one minecraft student today to write a function that returned a boolean. He stared at me blankly, before I realized he had never learned what a boolean is.

I know, that's on me to teach. We're supposed to follow a lesson plan designed by the company I work for, so this is just how this stuff is supposed to go. This is why I avoid the minecraft ones if I can- it's just not a great medium for beginners. Maybe I'm just not a good teacher, but I got hired didn't I?

The rest of the day was good. They're all good kids, so it went pretty easily. As we're reaching the end of the day, I've been getting anxious- it was later in the afternoon that I had my episode a few days ago. These past few days I've found that finding something to distract me around that time is crucial. Yesterday we were talking with friends, today SO is reading to me. They've been reading this book about the greek mythology of circe, and have been very sweet to read to me when I'm stressed lately. We both had a little bit of a stressful day today, so I think they're enjoying it as much as I am.

Tomorrow is one of my few days off from tutoring, so I'll have to find something to do. I've been wasting time browsing new laptops lately, when I've still got like 5 perfectly good ones that are all broken in their own ways. Part of me thinks I should just take whatever loose change I can get by selling all my junk laptops and buy a decent one that can do it all. Seems like a bit of a hassle to me, for some reason.

SO and I can't decide on how you pronounce "drought". We think that it's like bought, but neither of us are sure. For now at least, SO will read it in that way as it comes up in the book.
