subj: new parents -- twins weigh in, audiology
--------------------------------------
Today was our daughter's second weigh in outside of the NICE.
She went from 4 lbs 0 oz on Monday, to 4 lbs 7oz on Friday
morning. This was a big win for us. We can't claim success in
the task of growing a human, ... not yet but we have to
celebrate small wins because its hard work.
Our son weighed in a 6 lbs. So in a 3 weeks he gained 1 pound.
He is an eater and it seems to be transferring to his sister,
although she sometimes gets lost during a feed, she has gotten a
lot better. He also passed is audiology test, so we don't have
to travel hours away to get him tested with more advanced
methods. I really believed he would pass as I watch his
reactions to music and different sounds, its easy to tell he can
hear.
The parents are tired, and the children are hungry. We learn
about them as they show us who they are on the outside world.
Today my daughter scared us with a flow of white formula coming
from her nostrils and mouth at the same time, then seeing her
gasping for air. She was just laying there after eating 10
minutes before and next thing we know she is a formula fountain.
We got to suck the formula out of her nose, and the next moment
she was back to being a content child.
