Fear a' Bhata
It happened that I got stuck in thinking about how to code a function, so I
will put the next song here. Once the progress get smooth again, I might not
write every day. Let's see.
Shuffle is always on in my MP3 player and today the first one that played is
Fear a' Bhata. It has a Scottish origin. Some said that the song was written
by Sine NicFhionnlaigh (Jean, the Daughter of Fionnlaigh - Jean Finlayson) in
18th century.
It is about an unrequited love for a fisherman. The lady went to the tallest
hill every day to see if the young fisherman was at the sea. Would she see or
or would she not see the fisherman? Would she see him today, or would she see
him tomorrow, or never?
The song is a typical Irish/Scottish folk song, composed of 4 verses and are
played repeatedly as the story goes. The one that came up in my player was by
Clann Mhic Ruairi, a family group. I also like the Capercaillie's version in
the album "The Blood is Strong".
The very good thing about the song is, though it is full of sadness, Jean did
get married to her young fisherman Donald!
