I love to answer Christina's questions; read
others' answers. She wrote 5 new ones!

1. If a potato chip, what flavor'd I be?

I don't know much about potato chips. Salt &
   vinegar?

2. Most unusual way I've made a friend?

Hard to say. Met most friends in unusual circ-
umstances. Saw Kara writing on a pad in the
Square when I was 17 and asked for her auto-
graph. "What are you doing in a body?" She
asked, shocked, when she looked up.

Asked bugz to lay on my tools when I was doing
something extremely illegal and the police-FBI
joint patrols got too close. She did. We went
on to move rice in the Haitian earthquake and
a million other things over two decades.

Met Etta when she let me, Alison, and Thaddeus
stay in the abandoned house next to hers when
we passed through town and cooked us breakfast.

3. A book wherein my sympathies for the protagonist
   shifted to the antagonist. Why?

I admire the planet in Lem's Solaris. It's so
singular and beautiful. In Lessing's The Good
Terrorist it's natural to pity & lose patience
with the protagonists, but you can't root for
the antagonists. In film Mephisto's protagonist
becomes abhorrent. Back to books, when the
demon becomes white in the tidewater in Absalom
Absalom! by Faulkner, it's the most stunning
loss of sympathy for a character I've felt. I
want him to be killed by Haitian guerillas, by
   Mississippi swamps, by anything.

4. To improve your Gopher phlog, what resources get
   beyond basics?

szczezuja's gopher history is good. I honestly
base a lot of my gopher vibe on doris 'zines
   from the '90s and 2000s. I think it's important
to have a strong, intentional style that evokes
and organizes what you have to say. When you
read nm03 or solderpunk, for example, you know
what to expect. That adds to my anticipation
   and pleasure as a reader.

5. Entree I prepare so well at home I don't order
   it at a restaurant?

Curry chickpeas over rice, I guess.
