I wrote to Christina. Hadn't heard from her in a
while. She replied and wrote new questions!
1. Name five things you want to learn/do but don't
care if you do very well.
* Finish nursing school and pass NCLEX.
* Read Arabic and Russian.
* Bum around southeast Europe, the Balkans,
southwest Asia, Iran. Ride a freight train
across Africa with Evy.
* Finish reading John Williams' 1965 novel
*Stoner* with Cassie.
* Solder.
2. What's the best book you've read this year?
*Stoner,* so far. Evy's fav, *55 Strong: Inside
the West Virginia Teacher's Strike* (2018),
inspired her to join her workplace union.
3. What foods do you wish you could still enjoy?
Durian; halva; vobla. Hard to get here. Pakistani
goat knuckle soup; Polish pork knuckle; mint and
lamb pierogi; pho with kidney, tripe, tendon;
street griot with banan peze and pikliz; soft-
shell crab po'boy. Can't make or get 'em like I
remember 'em.
4. Is there a simple tip for people to lead happier,
healthier lives you've given up sharing or kept to
yourself because people aren't receptive?
Make a family of whoever's available to you.
Socialize what you can---limit exposure to market
forces that don't care about you. Pursue mutual
aid with friends, and friendly kindness with
others. Expand your sphere of non-market relations.
Make your local world more humane.
5. Describe a perfect day spent indoors at home.
0630 Cuddle with my baby.
0700 Fry local eggs & quesadillas with kimchi for
breakfast. Heavy rain. Read to baby as
diapers wash. Hang diapers over stove.
Dance with Evy to funk or gospel on radio.
1000 Baby sits at her desk busy with toys. I fix
or mend; Evy budgets. Warm fire in stove.
1130 Delicious lunch together. Roommate home.
1400 Baby naps. I lovingly tie Evy, beautiful
suspended from the beam. She rotates; I
relax and watch. She comes down. Nap with
baby.
1700 Evy makes liver and onions for dinner. Baby
watches us eat, amazed. New Joneworlds log;
read to roommate.
1830 Cassie visits with Mah Jongg. We play and
drink pots of Earl Grey or Jin Jun Mei.
2100 Evy goes to bed upstairs. Cassie and I stay
up talking by the stove; sleep at 2230.
Bonus: Vim or emacs?
