My answers to Christina's June five questions.

gopher://sdf.org:70/0/users/christyotwisty/

1. Whom would you like to be for one day?

  - Connie Lamb, my least helpful, most vindictive
professor in nursing college. I'm curious why
    she's like that.
  - Milkmaid on Kostroma agriculture experimental
station in 1960s. To bond deeply with moose and
enjoy sisterhood with milkmaids in tough environ-
    ment, advancing science.

2. What did you yearn for in your childhood that your
  parents never gave you?

In childhood (before 7 years), I had everything.
Dog. Cornfields, creek, woods, cemetary, and church
to explore. My parents had friends with children
the age of my brother and me. Bonnie, church
custodian, watched us sometimes. Grandparents, aunt
and uncle, cousin Bryan weren't far away. We trick-
or-treated at the nursing home where dad did
hospice ministry, and got bar-b-q, hushpuppies, and
slaw in town at Speedy's on special occasions.

After we moved I wish my parents gave me more care/
protection and more autonomy. I took autonomy by
fighting my way out of the house, getting a job at
  11 years, and exploring trouble.

3. How do you know when it's time to ask for help?

When I don't have a mental model of how to proceed,
but brute force feels too risky.

4. Recommend, and provide a recipe if you have one, a
  refreshing summer beverage.

Stuff into a big glass Ball jar mint from the patch
out the back door and two Lipton tea bags. Put in
sun for a couple hours. Chill. Sweeten if you want.

After heavy labor outside in the heat (when drinking
  water would cause vomiting), mix:
  - tablespoon or more of honey,
  - splash of cider vinegar,
  - pinch of salt
with water in the tallest glass you have and drink.

Alternatively, drink pickle juice, or juice off the
  sauerkraut.

5. Which childhood things do you still enjoy?

I like to tell silly jokes, wrestle, invent things,
explore, play pretend, tie up or get tied up by a
friend with rope, walk barefoot, get muddy. I like
to wrestle with a dog and splash in the creek. I
like to climb trees and watch trains. I like
skinned knees, bruises, and black eyes. I like
running really fast and peeing outside.
