| --- What I use on an almost daily basis -------------------------- | |
| I've been planning for a /uses page for my website for a while but | |
| I couldn't find the time and mood to create it. But, what do you | |
| know, it's finally here. | |
| It's a very large list so expect frequent and many updates | |
| (it's a work in progress). Oh, and each device gets to "say | |
| something" in the blockquote - a little personal sass included. | |
| --- Computers / Laptops ------------------------------------------ | |
| * Asus X401A | |
| The kitchen laptop, living proof that slow and steady can still | |
| stream Netflix. With an Intel Celeron Dual-Core B820 at a blazing | |
| 1.70 GHz and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, it's like a tortoise with WiFi. | |
| ChromeOS Flex keeps it alive, letting it handle Netflix, HBO Max, | |
| Jellyfin, and the occasional tab without collapsing in dramatic | |
| fashion. It's perfect for checking emails while pretending to cook. | |
| Do you really need 17 tabs open just to watch a cat video? | |
| * Asus ROG GL552VX | |
| My battle-wagon for actual work. Ubuntu Desktop 24.04, ready for | |
| coding, server wrangling, or fending off digital dragons. Loud, | |
| fast, basically the superhero of my home office. Can also double | |
| as a heater in cold winters. | |
| I could crush your code... but I won't. Today. | |
| * Asus ExpertBook P2 | |
| The cafe-roaming sidekick. Windows 11 because sometimes | |
| schoolwork happens, and a dad's gotta provide the platform for | |
| spreadsheets and Google Classroom chaos. Lightweight, reliable, | |
| quietly judging my caffeine intake. Great for looking productive | |
| while actually scrolling memes. | |
| Do you even lift ... your productivity? | |
| --- Servers ------------------------------------------------------ | |
| * Ace Magician | |
| The ringmaster of my Docker circus. Always on. If this went down, | |
| this page would vanish faster than a magician's rabbit. Docker | |
| containers tremble in its presence. Treat it with respect. | |
| It bites if ignored. | |
| Bow before me, mortals, and feed me electricity. | |
| * Lenovo M53 | |
| I have 3 identical Lenovo M53's. The silent foot-soldiers. They | |
| don't complain, they don't ask for attention, and they run like | |
| caffeinated hamsters on a mission. My cluster would be lost without | |
| them. They are great for practicing zen patience while waiting for | |
| builds. | |
| Another container? Bring it. We are ready. | |
| * Lenovo P510 | |
| The new kid on the block. Part of the server swarm, full-time NAS, | |
| silently judging me for stacking machines like a Tetris champion | |
| gone rogue. Ideal for storing everything you've ever lost | |
| digitally... including your dignity. | |
| I see everything... especially the files you didn't back up. | |
| --- Unninteruptible Power Supply --------------------------------- | |
| * APC Back-UPS ES 700 | |
| My battery-powered guardian angel. Offers roughly 40 minutes of | |
| "phew, the internet didn't die" time during power flickers. Unsung | |
| hero of blackouts and surprise electrical drama. Never | |
| underestimate the power of feeling like a tech wizard. | |
| I will protect your internet... unless the cat chews my cord. | |
| More details about the cluster can be found on | |
| Cluster information | |
| --- Connectivity ------------------------------------------------- | |
| * Asus Wireless Router RT-AC5300 | |
| The WiFi wizard of the apartment. Streams 1080p in every room, | |
| supports every device, and somehow keeps the neighbors from | |
| mooching my bandwidth... most of the time. Great for yelling | |
| "Buffering? Not on my watch!" | |
| I see you, streaming in the bathroom... yes, even there. | |
| You can see it in the photo below: | |
| A photo of my 4 small computers and router | |
| --- Radios ------------------------------------------------------- | |
| * Baofeng UV-5R | |
| My little secret-agent gadget. Perfect for chatting with neighbors, | |
| ham enthusiasts, or lost cats. Can it reach aliens? Optimism says | |
| yes. Realistically... probably not. But it looks cool. Excellent | |
| for feeling like James Bond at a BBQ. | |
| 0% battery if you forget me again. | |
| Why You Need a Tiny Radio Like the Baofeng UV-5R | |
| * Baofeng UV-5RM Plus | |
| The fancier bigger brother of the UV-5R, slightly more serious but | |
| still fun. Ideal for pretending I'm coordinating a covert mission | |
| or just yelling across the park. Signal: surprisingly solid. | |
| Cool factor: off the charts. Useful for dramatic emergency drills | |
| in the backyard. | |
| Yes, I am the superior sibling. Bow down to my range. | |

| --- Miscellaneous ------------------------------------------------ | |
| * Keyboards & Mice | |
| Various clicky, clacky, and ergonomic devices to keep fingers | |
| entertained and prevent serious productivity injuries. | |
| Stop hammering me... we both know you love it. | |
| * Monitors | |
| Big, small, ultrawide — anything that can display my desktop chaos | |
| in glorious detail. More screens = more places to lose your focus. | |
| Yes, I can see everything... including that meme tab. | |
| * Headphones & Speakers | |
| From focused work sessions to guilty-pleasure music binges, sound | |
| is always a priority. A pair of Beats Studio by Dre and another | |
| pair of Baseus Encok WM01 Plus TWS are great for ignoring people | |
| without being rude. | |
| Your playlist... questionable, but effective. | |
| * Cables & Hubs | |
| Nothing says "adulting" like owning enough USB adapters to open a | |
| small electronics shop. Pretending to organize a museum of wires; | |
| it helps cope with the chaos. | |
| I am chaos incarnate, yet still indispensable. | |
