Yesterday I geographically relocated the server. This sounds
a bit more impressive that just saying I carried an old Acer
Aspire One out to the garage and plugged it in. :-D It was
easy peasy though thanks to the fact that a week ago I
gifted it the first working battery its had in over a year
(so now ~Cow has a six hour UPS) and I can worry less about
the power interruptions that occur with some regularity here
in the outlands. I have a solar panel with battery storage
out there and am considering supplying the server off of it.
We'll see.
This got me musing on Solderpunk and their ROOPHLOCH event.
If you've not heard about it, check out their Gopher Hole on
Circumlunar Space. I do hope they decide to do it again this
year as I'd like to participate in some wacky Rube Goldberg
way. The most outlandish scenario I've come up with thus far
would be using speech-to-text on a pi powered by a small
wheel mounted generator on a bicycle. The pi would ssh the
entry to ~Cow via a WiFi hotspot as I'm peddling down the
road. Again, We'll see.
Thus ends this tail.

Also in the news...
I've started playing with processing LDPE and HDPE (numbers
4 & 2 respectively) plastics in-house or more properly
in-garage. Once I have a few experiments under my belt I'll
report back.
