Like reality,
the Large Internet is
a high-bandwidth communication channel.
I won't fault anyone
for choosing the Large Internet
(or reality, for that matter).
But that's not the Small Internet.
The Small Internet
has low bandwidth
with a high participation rate
and a high signal-to-noise ratio.
Low bandwidth is a feature,
not a bug.
The Small Internet
is like haiku:
anyone can write a haiku
and the point is to convey as much meaning
with as few words as you can.
If you tried to turn a haiku
into a novel,
you would ruin it.
Too much would be said;
not enough would be left to think about.
The rewarding part would be done for you.
The pleasures of the Small Internet
are the pleasures of
deep thought,
deep connection,
deep engagement.
Our method
is to leave plenty of blank spaces
on the game board.
So we can move.
