Muto talks about internet suicide [0]. On the Republic, several
people have done what we here in the greater circumlunar community
call claiming their civil right - the right to be forgotten. When
users claim this right their account and all content associated with
it is deleted. I'm sure others have considered this as well.
Everyone should have the right to end their (personal) digital life
summarily and absolutely.
Obviously this is easier with a pseudonym. It's easier on gopher or
gemini, as opposed to the walled garden networks of the large
internet with their search engines that remember everything.
Still, it's sad when someone decides to do this. I love browsing the
small internet. There is a ton of interesting content out there, and
part of me wants to archive it all, just for historical purposes. On
the www, archive.org is a treasure. But historical interest can't
trump a person's digital rights.
As far as the other kind of suicide, the meatspace kind - Muto, I
hope you are not serious about that. Please get some help if you are
depressed!
