A dream.  A bear wrecked my boat.

This is  from a dream  I had  not so long  ago.  I
still  wonder what  it might  mean.  I  have heard
that dreams  with animals in them  are usually the
meaningful ones, full of  symbols from the deepest
pits of one's subconscious.

I am  swimming in  a sea, at  night.  Not  an open
sea,  more like  an ocean  inlet.  There  are many
small sailboats  around with people and  lights on
as I swim by them, so I can still see pretty well.

And  I know  I am  swimming back  to my  own small
boat.  But when  I get to where it ought  to be, I
see only  the bottom of its  overturned hull.  And
standing on it is the most enormous grizzly bear I
have ever seen.   And it is very  angry.  It moves
with  ferocious  speed  and  violence.   With  its
claws, it  grabs the daggerboard on  the bottom of
the hull, and rips it right off.  Throws it.  Then
the bear sees me, and  it jumps into the water and
starts swimming towards me.   And I'm very afraid,
and I'm  tired and  cold, and  the bear  is coming
fast.  I know  that bear is going to  get me.  And
then I wake up.
