1969 Chevy Nova race car.

This kit came with the  pieces to build as a stock
Nova SS, or a small-tire  drag car, stock class. I
went for the race car  option. It doesn't have the
cool  tubbed   rear  end   and  blower   like  the
super-streets do,  but it's  still a  good looking
car.

It was a high-skill rated  kit, and I botched some
bits, but  I enjoyed  it and  it turned  out true.
And  I  think  I'm  finally getting  the  hang  of
brush-painting the body paint.   I got to just lay
on the  paint as best I  can on the first  go, and
let it settle itself smooth. No going back over.

I'll  do  another  race  car  model  some  day.  I
remember going to a speedway  a time or two when I
was younger.   Hot day,  that gasoline  smell, the
shin-rattling roars.  I guess I have good memories
of that.  I  do admire the whole deal  and all the
efforts involved by those who race.

My mom once  owned a Chevy Nova, and  I learned to
drive on  that.  And I've  always had a  soft spot
for Chevrolet  in general.   I even once  owned an
'86 Monte Carlo SS of my own for a brief while, as
it's a shape of car  I surely love. Which leads me
to my  next project, an  '83 Hurst Olds.  Which is
basically the  same thing  as the Monte,  but even
rarer and cooler looking I judge.
